Nursery provision

Parents can apply directly to the school to have their child’s name put on the Nursery waiting list. Children are admitted from 3 years old, depending on places available.

We are a 78 place Nursery and currently we offer two and a half day and half day provision.

Two and half day provision is beginning of the week, all day Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning or end of the week, Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday.

Half day provision is a morning or an afternoon session Monday to Friday.

Current timings of the day are;

All day sessions 8.55am-3.25pm

Half day sessions 8.55am-11.55am and 12.25pm-3.25pm.

A member of the Nursery team will contact you in the term prior to your child’s third birthday to discuss places available and the process of accepting a Nursery place with us , to ensure a happy and successful start for your child.

Admission to the Nursery does not secure a full time place in Reception. Parents need to apply separately. Please see the information on Reception admissions regarding applications to the Reception.

What Our Families are Saying

“Fabulous friendly staff, great relaxed teaching area. My daughter skipped every day into Reception she loved it! She had a great year of learning and growing up. We could not fault your teaching.” Julie Chapman“Honestly the best start for my little boy. He was only just 4 when he joined so the transition was a little difficult but the staff were great, especially Mrs Artley and Mrs Holder. He ended the year really loving going to school. I couldn’t have asked for more. Brilliant!!” Fiona Teasdale

‘Whinstone has given my little boy the very best start in his school life.  I was nervous on his first day of nursery, but he settled in quickly and loved every minute of his time there.’

“One aspect of reception I have been particularly impressed and reassured by is the effort that is made to get to know the children on an individual basis. I feel that Samson (and all his quirks!) is fully understood by the staff and the tasks he is given, and is involved in, address his particular social development and intellectual needs. Staff have taken the time to get to know what works for him and what he responds to. I also feel like the feedback I give on home-work is taken into account when the next book/homework sheet is given. Little touches like the photo of his first day go far and above my expectations and suggests the school do care about the children and their families.” Laura Fleming
